I am going to try Elk this year.
I will be going rifle in 2nd to 3rd week of Sept.
I have been using Rocky's Mountain Monarch Calling System...I didn't really care for their reed system but really like their diaphragm calls. Their grunt tube sounds nice and loud.
I have been using the Yellow Mellow, Screaming Tormentor, and Raging Bull.
I have watched a few GOOD videos and I am working on perfecting my bugles.
I have got the hang of the cow calls pretty good using any of the diaphragm calls.
I have also been practicing with Carlton Fight'n Cow Call. I am also going to buy a Hoochie Mama or Squeeze Cow call just to mix things up.
I know about locator bugles, bugles with chuckles, bugles with grunts and screams and such...also the difference between regular cow call and estrus cow call.
I have also talked to a few guys that seem to say Cow calling works the best for the spike bulls and bugle if you can get close to Herd bull.
I plan on hunting around Porcupine Hills area in Sask if anyone is familar with that area? and tips would be greatly appreciated.
Any other tips on scouting etc.?
