lets talk red dots from china.

You get what you pay for.
Green lasers work better in daylight , by the way

Yes they do. I think the OP wants to talk about red dot sights though not lasers.... One thing with China is they can make good products. Things are changing and the quality is on the way up not down for the most part.
As far as value priced red dots go the TRS-25 is the winner right now
NCstar makes a lot of junk but I recently bought a green laser from Marstar and it seems well made. Marstar offers a lifetime warranty on NCstar which is why I decided to try it from them......the thing I like about this laser is that I can use rechargeable batteries in it unlike the Viridian that costs 3 times as much and uses the same type of battery. Lot's of Chinese junk out there but things are getting better.

what model NC star are you useing?

I have the DLB140R on the old SKS. The original battery sucked, so i replaced it.... Maybe ya just need a new battery. Anyways, works fine for the 20-75 yards That i shoot. One thing to note is that you have to tighen the sh1t out of the mount, it wasnt very tight from factory.

I picked up a First Strike last week (there was only one TRS-25 left, and I needed 2). The TRS-25 was $110 and the first strike $130. I haven't fired with the 'First Strike' yet, though I'm kind of put off it so far. The glass tends to distort things pretty badly, and in low-light situations the auto-brightness has the dot barely visible if not invisible.

I'll wait until I've spent some quality time with it before passing any final judgement, worst case in can be an offset backup red dot on whatever I shot least. :) At $130 it felt a it too good to be true compared to the other optics in this style (Fastfire, Docter, Jpoint etc), but worth a gamble on.

They are for sale, at least in Ontario. Shop said they'd just received it in the last few weeks...

I was under the impression the bushnell first strike were sill not available??

Everyone has different experiences because there are so many Chinese makers and quality varies. I've got a fake Aimpoint and a reflex-type knockoff that have been going strong for years. They are only mounted on .22s, which may contribute to their longevity. I also have a Leupold Deltapoint and a name brand reflex that failed within two years and are currently out for service. So you don't always get what you pay for, especially with red dots. BTW, it seems like most red dots are made in China regardless of the brand, so the country of manufacture is not necessarily the issue. I've never had any, either cheap or expensive, that didn't work in the daylight. Of course, daylight around here is often dim miss.

That said, the Bushnell TRS 1 is a solid sight and inexpensive. The Aimpoint H1 is even nicer (and looooong) battery life, but at about five times the cost of the Bushnell.

People need to justify spending $700 on a red dot. So they need to trash something.

Maybe they should put that effort into telling the companies to stop ripping people off charging $700 for something so simple as a red dot.
