13 Russian and Chinese SKS's for sale on EE, probably a few more older listings. From shooter grade to very nice. Prices are creeping back down as the peak in sales is over. Average price is about $350 to $375 for a decent one. Those who want to move them, will adjust price down and set market value. Interesting how supply and demand works.

So, currently, $350-375 will get you a nice SKS. If you want an Izhevsk, which were only produced in late '53 and 1954 you may pay more, depending on condition and matching parts. Good time to buy... As prices will likely go up again thanks to the ban of 1500.

All matching non-refurbished variants, especially with neatly pinned mags, will often command more but are slow sellers. I wonder if that market segment will pick up?

ah yes the 1500 - its hard to predict what the markets will do - was up about 5k this week on investments and now 90% is gone - as for the SKS I did recently pick one up and those that have been around these surplus firearms look at it and say "WOW" that's in great shape - so I think I paid a good price for what I have (1950r) me personally have not seen one in nicer shape.

Sounds great. While we're at it, we can track Glock pistol, Mossberg shotgun and Ruger 10/22 prices. A CGN version of the TSX index.

well , they went from $190 bucks to $700 briefly, then to $500....$400....$350
There is a lot of them out there......the economy is starting to tighten.....some are still out of work, Or E.I.
I think the price has stabilized for now, but I can see more hitting the market for "fast cash"

You can see this happening with hand guns right now,...some higher end safe Queens for sale all of a sudden.
By Christmas, I think you are gonna see some fantastic Deals. cash will be very tight.

People bought more of them, prices went up. Lots of people tried to sell theirs for more than they bought them, suppliers bought more. Supply went up, people didn't buy them for $450. Supply remains the same but with surge demand met, prices fall.

My personal view is that with a bit of time prices will fall, some suppliers will have to sell at a bit of a loss especially as others are able to bring more in at a lower rate.

Prices even at circa $300 are not the end of the world. What prices will end up being I cannot tell you, what I can say is that Canada is like a captured market, there are circa 15 million in the world (some of which are broken/kaput etc). The USA is for all intents and purposes no longer importing them.

Assuming that only 2 million are still available for purchase out of armories then things are just fine, I don't know how many SKS rifles are imported into Canada yearly but I doubt we're burning through that many.

^^pretty much bullseye^^ lets face it shooting sports is expensive with other life responsibilities I think the people will be selling items for more important things like paying bills/mortgage and having funds on hand for emergencies which is wise to do. There wasn't too much confidence in the markets today they are painting a sea of red - tough times are knocking on our doors.

With the possible ban, many importers are not bulk importing, they don’t want to be stuck with banned inventory. I think the resupply we are seeing were paid for overseas pre OIC and once they are gone, i dont think we will see more.

With the price on run of the mill sks's through the roof, what does that say about less common variants? 49 Russians, Yugo's both the 59 and 59/66, Romanian, Albanian, and the near mythological North Korean? I know they all exist here as I have seen them.

Theres still a few Yugos floating at the same price. The collector grade ones haven’t gone up as much. Basically an all matching doubled in value and the chinese mixed parts ones almost dbled at 300-350.
