I like the look of an older one of these but haven't handled it, just see a spec on-line for eye relief of 4.9" on a newer one. I think 4.9" is too long for a regular (non-scout) bolt action setup. Does anyone know for sure if the eye relief on the older ones is as long? Seller says he thinks just 3-4" or so.

I have a 2.5x fixed power Leupold on a T/C Encore 270W rifle. Sorry I don't know what model the scope is but I bought it about 4 years ago and it was used at the time - I'm thinking about a decade old now. Works fine on the rifle with the normal ring/scope mounting distance (eg NOT "scout" type mounting) and I like it for it's very light weight...

I had one on a Ruger 77/44. The 4.9" eye relief isn't a problem however the scope tube is quite short. I needed a front extension right to mount the scope properly.

here is what a Leupold 2.5x looks like on my Brno 22F. works for me.

If you want to check eye relief, shine a flashlight in the objective lens and place a white piece of paper parallel to the ocular lens. you will see a cone of light coming out of the ocular lens. The eye relief is measured from where it is smallest in diameter to the ocular lens.

I had one on a .416 Rigby for 1 trip to Africa. Good long eye-relief, recoil proof and pathetic in anything resembleing low light.

I couldn't get it off fast enough when I got home.
