Anyone adjusted the parallax on a centre fire scope for .22 rim fire type distance?
You know the ones that do not have the adjustable objective or side focus, buddy claims we can do it with my vx1 and use it on a 17 Hmr.
Thoughts guys.

Yes, unscrew the objective counter clockwise to move parralax closer. Works on pretty much all scopes that have an objective lens housing that tightens onto a trim ring. The thickness of the trim ring is what determines final parralax setting on fixed parralax scopes.

I learned something new today. Thanks, supernova.

I've done a few and it isn't that difficult.
Each and every time I've gone to Youtube and followed deereckshuns.
Undo the objective outer ring.
Sometimes they can be on there stiff and tight.
Then there is the inner ring on threads.
I forget which way is witch.
Best to clamp scope into a vise a have a distance figured out.........say fifty yards
and then move the ring slightly.
Bawble yer tete to see if the cross hairs do the dance.
It shouldn't take a hole bunch of twisting to get some results.

The objective can be held in place with an o-ring, flip cover, tape etc. And yes, its just like adjusting an adjustable objective. I can usually loosen them by hand. Just don't unscrew it too far and leak the nitrogen out.

Thanks for the heads up guys.
Another good CGNutter sent me a link from RimfireCent. on this topic.
There is a little more to it...a full description on what and how to.
Thanks All.
Rob

Get yourself one of these so you don't mess up the objective ring (add wwwdot):

The small BOA Constrictor Strap Wrench works the best.

I tweaked one of my rimfire scopes this morning, a Bushnell 4x32 I wanted to experiment with. 10 minute job. It was initially set parallax free at about 75 yards from what I could tell. At 50 yards, the crosshairs would wiggle about 1/2 inch when you moved your head side to side. I loosened the objective ring, turned the lens less than 1/4 turn ccw, then re-tightened the ring. Zero wiggle now at 40-50, the 1/2 inch wiggle is now at 75 yards. You can't eliminate parallax at all distances (if only!) but you can reduce it in your prime shooting ranges.
IMO, this is a great way to adjust a scope for minimal parallax at the distances you normally shoot at. It also illustrates the benefits of an AO scope for precision shooting at varying ranges. If you're trying to achieve 1/2 inch groups at 50 yds and your scope has that much parallax to begin with at that range, you'll drive yourself crazy unless you realize what's happening.
