I'm interested in a bore sighter and see that Leopold offers a magnetic version which I assume is to avoid damaging the bore with a spigot like the Bushnel version.

How do you guys like the magnetic bore sighters and can you perhaps recomend a good one.

I have one of the old Leupold magnetic models (the one with the non-illuminated grid visible through the scope) as well as a new no-name laser boresighter that mounts magnetically to the muzzle. Both work quite well.

I have the Leupold magnetic one. Works just fine. Not much else you can say about a bore sighter really.

After all I'd read about the necessity of protecting crowns, using one piece rods and bore guides for cleaning etc. I just couldn't rationalize pushing an aluminum plug into the muzzle of my TRG-42. Though "plugged in" versions may be perfectly OK, I didn't see the need to worry about it since the magnetic one was an option and by design is incapable of harming the crown.
