Given the choice between the VX-I 3X9X50 or the VXII 3X9X40, which would provide the best performance and low light conditions?

Thanks in advance

One of the biggest differences is that the vxII has click adjustments and the vx1 has friction adjustments. That alone is enough to make me want the vxII over the vxI.

It is correct that the VX II has click adjustments over the friction adjustments of the VX I and this is a benefit but the big difference is that the VX II has Multi coat 4 lens coatings that will improve the light transmission. Phil.

I own a VX II and will never own anything less inquality. I had the oppurtunity to compare a 3-9x40 vs a 3.5-10x50 and i didn't notice much differance in clarity at dark. how you intend to use it would be a major factor in buying one. if you want a light weight good clear scope a 40 would probably satisfy your needs. But if you want the maximum for potetinal in clarity and light transmission the 50 is the way to go. correct me if i'm wrong but 50 had a bigger F.O.V. ?

I would seriously pass on any scope with a 50mm objective lense as they are seriously HUGE..........

........ unless it is a serously HUGE scope you are looking for.
