Anybody have experience with a Leupold European 30? I was thinking of trying one, probably the 3-9x50 or the 4-12x40. My limited experience with 30mm tubes has been very good. I have a mark IV 4.5-14x50 on my target rifles and I love them. I don't expect them to perform like mkIV's but they are less than half price. I think the 30mm tube might be they way to go for light transmission, I just love a nice bright scope when the sun is going down, or when I'm out on gloomy days.

They look nice and clean, and they are available with the german #4 reticle, which I might like to try. I would just put it on a deer/elk gun probably a 7mm or .30/06. In the pictures on the web site, the tube looks quite short, maybe that will make mounting options quite limited.

I had the Leupold Euro 3-9 x 50 mm with the 30 mm tube. If they are still like the one I bought a few years back the inside are the same as the 1” tube. Nothing special. They just made the 30 mm for European market. As for seeing in the low light situation , my Nikon Gold 1.5-6 x 42 mm with the 30 mm tube was better and clearer in low light conditions. The Euro is a bigger and bulkier scope and I didn’t find any advantage when it came to hunting and that’s why I sold mine. Just my 2¢ Good luck...
