I promised a HAMR review, and I have delivered!

I have lots more to say about this scope, both good and bad, but I tried to keep it short at 3 minutes rather than 7 min.

I've watched way too many reviews that are a quarter of an hour with nothing but man-hands turning the gear over and over.

I'm sick and tired of man-hands.

So I tried to do something a little more . . . ya know . . . interesting?

The HAMR seems like a really popular scope. Two other guys at my range bought them, and we all have different opinions on them. They're definitely a unique black rifle optic. Which is an arena that Leupold doesn't lean on with the same intensity that Trijicon or Nightforce do.

In short: I like it, but I have enough reservations about it that I didn't keep it on my Tavor. I think it may be better suited to the AR platform (big surprise there)

Does anyone else have one? Looked at one? Considering one?

Thanks for the video! I haven't seen an ACOG on your Tavor, so I'm inferring that you tried it but that you found it didn't give you enough eye relief? The HAMR is comparable in functionality to an ACOG with an RMR (419g vs. 428g), and both are lighter than an Elcan SpecterDR (640g) - which is still arguably my favourite with the ability to quickly switch between 1-4x.

So in your opinion, what's the best optic for the Tavor? ACOG w/RMR, HAMR, SpecterDR, EOTech with magnifier...? Something else?

I love the styling on the HAMR which I'm sure has been a big selling point :)

Biggest non-selling point. That thing is too expensive for a CoD prop.

what is the retail price for a hamr in canada?

Ranging from 1900-2100 with the delta point.

TVPP, good video. I had a hamr on an AR, I found the delta point far too bright, I put a peice of tape on the light sensor this helped considerably. However the triangle for "my eyes" was not crisp. Apparently then now have a 3moa dot option out there. Personally I was hoping someone by now had made some adaptor plates so that we may have option to try and use RMR, or Burris fast fires, my eyes deal with those reticles easier.

Thats the problem! I talk about it in my full tavor rundown, which I haven't posted yet. I'm terrible for changing optics. If you look back through my posts I've probably had 6 different scopes on there in the time I've had this rifle.

My ACOG experience was on a friends XCR in 7.62 that I shot for a day and felt unsatisfied with.

I wish somebody did make an adapter mount for the HAMR, but I can see why leupold would never support it. One optic system from one optic company for them no doubt.

Its a neat scope, no doubt about that. I think the delta shield was a mistake though, and I with the glass didnt feel so exposed without covers. I carry my guns in an eberlestock so they're going in and out on a regular basis. I'd hate for my sling to end up on top of my optic, even if Leupold does cover any and all damage.

I say it in the video, but I think a Vortex Razo 1-6X is what I want. The elcan would be excellent too. I was very impressed with the 1.5-6 I handled at shot show. But I think the Elcan is a natural fit for .308 rifles for some reason.
