As the title says, I have a Leupold IER scout that I picked up recently. I noticed that the turrets feel very mushy, like no audible clicks and not very tactile. Is this standard for this scope? I hear all these great things about Leupold but honestly, I don't see the hype.

Which variant of the Leupold IER scout do you actually have? What kind of turrets are on it?

Most Leupold IER scouts come with capped, coin adjust 1/4 MOA turrets that should have distinguishable position clicks but they are really only meant for zeroing, ie set and forget. They were never designed for constant dial adjustment like a precision target scope with turret knobs in mind. And frankly from a mechanical standpoint, it would be difficult to build that feature into a compact, low profile design of this type. So I'm not sure what you are really expecting.
