Hello everyone,

I just recently purchased a Steyr Scout, which came with a Leupold M3 Ultra Tactical 10x40 scope (Army mildot, same scope that is on the M24 'sniper' rifles). I do not have a manual for the scope, and surprisingly I haven't been able to dig one up on the net. I have one/two specific question regarding the scope, I am hoping someone with some experience could answer.

I have not had experience with built-in range estimation, and I am not sure what this means. Does it have something to do with the reticle itself (using the mildots to approximate range) or does it have something to do with the third turret on the scope (an infinity symbol at one end with graduations dots increasing in size)? Either way, I am not sure what the third turret is for, and not sure about how range estimation works. If someone could help me out I would be most appreciative.

Range estimation is done with the mil-dot reticle, and the third turret is for setting the parallax-free distance, which may need to be tweaked a little, as the actual parallax-free distance doesn't always perfectly line up with the marked range on the turret.

Thanks for the reply Jordan. Can anyone point me in the right direction on some instruction on how to estimate range using the reticle?
