Leupold Mark 6-18x40 on a Mini-14?

Hey fellow shooters

Look'n for advice on this scope for my application. Mostly target shooting. 200 yards+ would like to go longer however the scope I currently have is crap. Worried if I don't go high powered enough I'll be again upgrading in the future and at worst I could transplant it to another unit down the road.

Long time shooters I work with prefer the Leupold so after much looking this one was in my price range. ($5-600) Leupold specifies this scope is optimized shooting platforms that are AR based with .223, 55 grain. Does this sound like an intelligent option on my Mini to you more experienced guys...........and gals?

Any advice is much appreciated.

I have that exact scope on my heavy barreled 243. Seems like too much scope for a mini-14.
Im hoping to move to a 50mm lens so if you decide to go that way, let me know as I might
like to see my scope.

If you can see the entire barn with irons, why would you scope a mini-14?

A 1-4x would be plenty of scope for a Mini-14.

If the optics quality is poor, that will happen.

A 3-9x40 would work great on a Mini 14. Use what you got though. No harm in that.
