What do you guys think of the Leupold MR/T 1.5-5x20mm M2 SPR scope? I have a new 3.5-10x40mm LR/T that was was about to mount on my BlueStar but it looks freaking huge on there and I was thinking that the M2 MR/T might be a better choice for some service rifle and fun shooting. I use both an Elcan and a Leupold 3-9x36mm M1 MR/T on my AR15 for service shoots now and like them but feel like trying something different and the M2 might be a good TAC match scope to. Any thoughts?

HeadDamage: While at NSCC this July 2004, I saw a couple of shooters (quite high in the aggregates) who switched to the MR/T 1.5x5x20mm scopes from their previous medal winning Leupold VariXIII 3.5x10x40mm and 4.5x14x50mm scopes. The apparently downsized and are continuing to shoot great scores with the 1.5x5x20mm.

This goes to show that regardless of hardware or optics, good shooters will do well with any gear.

I've had great success this season since I started out with a Leupold LR/T 4.5x14x50mm Side Focus. It was quite large and I loved the sight picture on the 500 meter mound looking at the A Face Figure 12 on the 4 foot frame.

I did not shoot any better than using my Leupold Tactical 3.5x10x40mm. D'oh !!

Then I downsized to a MR/T M1 3x9x36mm and my scores went back up to where they should be .... around the 500 pt mark. Hey, gimme a break, I'm about to endure my second hip replacement operation, so now I can qualify for a real "handicapped" parking spot along with my "free parking" Veteran plates. ha ha ha ha OUCH !

The MR/T 3x9x36mm looks really neat on top of the 20" barreled AR flat top. Now, I'm an SPR Wannabe !!!

Cheers and keep it light !

I'm bad for trying new things... I used an Elcan normally but for the Alberta shoots this year I put an Leupold 3-9x MR/T M1 on and liked it but I've also decided that a 1.5-5x MR/T M2 would be good on my BlueStar instend of the 3.5-10x40mm LR/T that I bought for it. Hence why the LR/T is up forsale on the board here now.
