Leupold or Nightforce

It's the added Milspec that weighs more. QUOTE]

I wonder how much mil spec weighs.

Does mil spec come as one standard weight of x ounces per unit or is it a percentage of the non mil spec weight? And what if the mil spec requires it to be light as part of the mil spec? Does than mean that all non mil spec items must be even lighter in order to qualify as non mil spec?

It is very obvious, I mean come on...
Sniper weight mil spec is the heaviest and Airborne is the lightest for obvious reasons, but SEAL mil spec is the most boyant.
Marine grade mil spec is obviosly the toughest, ask any Marine
If it ain't mil spec it ain't shiite:stirthepot2:

Not at all true
spec I was referring to and which you obviously are aware of is conditions under which the optics will be used. Military use is obviously completely different than typical alberta hunting conditions. the military optics MUST be able to handle atypical abuse not expected of civilian models period, thus milspec optics ARE a different species.

My buddy sent his Nightforce in in March. Oh how the time flies.:(

THAT is truly weird, we normally see repair or modifications done in under 1 month, some as little as 8 days.
Any chance he sent it back directly and got grabbed by customs in the US for not having permits or to a gray market dealer who would need to trip down and back to get it serviced?
IF it was shipped through a legit dealer NF would have an RMA number and would be able to state with certainty why the scope has not been returned already.
Something is REALLY wrong here, as 6 months is unheard of for any NF service.

I don't think it could be sent through any channels more up and up. I'll give him a call to see if he got any word on it yet

Well the good news is he got it back. The not-so-good news is it took 4 months. I'd be unhappy; the owner is OK with it.

Glad to hear that all is well, but SOMETHING is really odd here, I have never had any optic not come back inside 5 weeks and even then there was a good explanation from NF. The got dumped with a military units optics to refurb on short notice.
I would be curious to learn why it took so long. The guys at NF are always looking for ways to improve and without intel improvement is difficult.
