Wondering if anyone has used the Leupold PigPlex reticle for deer or other big games. Would be bush or close range deer hunting on a Ruger American Predator 308

I have the Freedom, 1-4X20, with the PigPlex. It was an impulse purchase as Canadian Tire was selling them cheap. It is a nice little scope but the reticle is nothing special. I can't say anything bad about it but the reticle itself really does not bring anything extra to the game.

Not the pig plex, but I have a vx-1 with turkey plex on my gobbler getter. The circle can be used to range birds, not sure how that translates over to the pig plex reticle for ranging animals. I also dont know if there is much difference between the vx-1 and the vx-freedom, but mine is incredibly bright, crisp and clear during extremely low light conditions.

I've thought about it a lot for the same rifle and use, but without seeing it in person think a regular duplex is better.

the freedoms are brighter and clearer than VX2, but be aware that the turrets are exposed and can be moved while walking! This is the main reason I hesitate to get one.

I have had a couple Pig Plex scopes, I think the circle does help you to center the crosshairs more quickly... the sub-stadia lines are a quick holdover option that you will have to learn based on your load.

Have a Freedom 1-4 Pig Plex on a 45-70 lever. I think it’s fantastic! Great in low light and the bush. Turrets are capped, only ones exposed have the CDS feature.

I had a 1-4 with pig plex. Scope was when that reticle came out, between vari x and freedom. Scope was on my Marlin 1895g 45-70, held zero, but I never took anything with the setup. Scope left in my ongoing distaste and purge of anything associated with Korth group.

It would be a very good optical reticle for anything close range, say 100yds and in, where getting on target fast is most important. One wouldn't want a long range "Christmas tree " reticle for that, but the reticle is busy in its own way. In the same way, or mirror to the long range reticle, I wouldn't want the hog plex on a longer range rifle.

Personally I prefer a German #4.

I purchased one to put on a bush rifle, Freedom 1-4x24 Pig Plex. Okay for it's intended purchase but I had no issues selling it with the rifle and wouldn't purchase another. To my eye it was no where near as clear as a VX2 or the 4200 Elites I compared it to. It was especially unclear around the cross hairs when fine tuning. It worked fine, held zero and looked really nice on the rifle.

I've got one pig plex, on a .22 great for shots, on moving game, I just put the out side edge of circle, on the nose, sometimes a running rabbit tips over,
I like the Leopold MOA-ring better, i have two 1.5x4x20 Vx-freedom's, the ring on the MOA is much bigger, and I find it less cluttered, mostly I use these scopes on compact rifles, (shortened/suppressed) for bush hunting, were snap shooting at close range, or were shots on moving game are likely, my case its pigs and deer, in New Zealand.
