For any one still doubting where Leupold scopes are made. The reason a lot of products made in the USA are not marked that way is because someone in California sued a multi purpose tool manufacturer because it said made in USA and there was a screw in it that came from another country!
This is a real good video of the production plane in Beaverton.
This is part one of two.

While in the Portland area a couple of years ago, called up Leupold in Beaverton requesting a tour. They told me to come by the next morning, was met by a rep and was given a tour of the facility which lasted over 3 hours, prior to leaving, I was given a shirt, ball cap, numerous patches and catalogs galore. I was impressed with the time they took to show me their entire plant from start to finish.

Well there it is, straight from the horses mouth. I wonder if any other manufacturers would produce the same "info-mertial"

Most manufacturers can't produce the same info-mercial, simply because they don't manufacture anything. If I made a sufficient size order I could get "Dogleg" branded on the side, then claim to be the best.

Thanks for the post. It was an excellent video. I used my VXII earlier today and really like it.

I took this tour in person a couple of years ago and was extremely impressed with the the factory and the actual effort that was made in conducting the tour. The host of this video is Tim Lesser and I have spoken to him on several occasions. He is a also a guide and really does use the products he sells. I spent a couple of hours with him after the tour going over technical questions that were not covered in the tour . I was suprised how much of the operation was dedicated to machining and forming metal. I found most interesting in how the scope bodies were extruded on most scopes however the VX3-L's are machined on a CNC due to complex design. The actual exterior coating of the scope bodies is done by a couple of plants in the Portland area as they found it was a more consistent process than doing it in house. Pretty much everything else (except for the lenses) is produced at their facility. Thanx for the post Tony. Phil.

Excellent video, thanks for posting it Tony.

I'll be in Portland for a week at the end of July, I think I'll call and see if it's ok stop by their plant.
