Hello,

I'm going to mount a compact 32 mm scope on the basic Yankee Hill 227A half-inch scope riser, which is secured to the receiver of my basic Stag 4R. Leupold PRW rings seem to be a good choice, and I was wondering what height of rings would be "generally" the best choice, and where to find them.

I know that the cheek-weld and all that other good stuff is life-and-death crucial, but this will be a mail-order situation and I'd like it to be "close-enough" on the first go-round.

FWIW I'm 6'1" and have a large (some-would-say-fat) head.

You should be able to order them from WSS's website or phone them. I have PRW medium rings holding a 40mm objective with room to spare and at perfect height for me on a HS stocked 700. They are great rings IMO, really solid and much lighter than any of the tacticool ones.

Merci

Hi Mr. Diesel,

Thank you. Yup, I was kinda thinking that medium-height would be the most likely choice. And I agree with you that the prices on the tactical-style rings are more than a little goofy. It's like pricey add-ons for Harleys...basically "male jewellery" ... and nobody's ever said that Leupold hardware is shoddy or under-engineered.

I drive to Lethbridge about once a month, and I'm guessing that the Wholesale Sports store in your fair city would have them? Certainly worth a phone call ...

I have a very small car and easily get about 43 mpg on the highway, so the savings on the Canada Post shipping costs would probably "cover" about half of the round-trip expense.
