Anyone have any experience with these rings? They are reasonably priced, and steel(right?)

Im thinking of mounting them to a soon to be mine savage 10fp le2b with a farrel base. :)

What about lapping the rings... is there any need?

They are steel. Very stable rings and value priced. I think we charge $50 for lows while TPS steel are in the 90ish range. Lapping is good!!

I am no expert on Savage but it sounds like you should be able to get away with low rings. I would recommend to lap rings, especially the cheaper ones due to aligning and mounting mistakes.

Med will work for sure and you may get the lows to work as well. If you have an adjustable objective, the mediums are likely the ones.

Farrells are .375" high and they seem to be one of the higher ones. The farrell bases are "not" true picatinney spec unless you order them that way. The Leupold line or Burris Signature Zee will fit fine or the TPS "W"

Thanks guys for the replys. Would a chunk of aluminum work good for scope lapping?(i can get it turned down to the right diameter at work i think.)

I would be mounting a bushnell legend 5-15X40 AO mill dot on the savage for now... and am planing to get the 4200 in 6-24X40 ao mill dot latter on(anyone else suggest something else in that price range instead)?.

The aluminum should work fine but may have a limited life.

The Bushnell 4200 scopes are nice.
