Anyone have an experiences with the Quick Release mounts. I'm getting a VX-l for my black powder and thought it would be so much easier cleaning my break-open in the bucket of water being able to remove the scope.

Leu QR mounts

Howdy,
FWIIW, I have both QR and QRW mounts on some of my rifles. I really like and prefer the QRW's; they remove and re-install quickly. I find the two small knobs on the QR's to be a bit stiff to operate; but that may be my arthritis. :(Both are good systems from my perspective.:)

Thanks 45 Auto
no problems holding zero with taking the scope on and off? And why did you opt to be able to remove your scopes. Is it on a Black Powder?

To be honest I would not routinely remove a scope mounted with Leupold QRW or QR mounts unless I had a better reason than cleaning. As good as both of these mounts are they will not re zero at 1 moa or better due to their contrction or tolerences. You will have to re zero your scope after to reinstall it if you want to be right on the money. The mounts allow you to be close but the point of impact will move somewhat. In my experience the only QD mounts that I would have confidence in being within 1 moa are the Leupold Mark 4 system that are reinstalled with a torque wrench (65 in/lbs) or a European saddle mount like Blazer ($400-$600) with base and rings. QR mounts

I have a set of QRW mounts on my Annie 1712. I have taken it off numerous times and have not had any zeroing problems. But, of course, I check for zero at the start of each match. Works for me. It all depends on what you are expecting for a mounting system and the requirements you have. On my Annie BR2013, I have a set of eurpoean mfg. EAW mounts that operate on thumscrews, but the mounts are made spec. for Annies. And they work ok. But these are quite pricey. Not that I would necessaruly buy them, I was fortunate to acquire them on another Annie, so I kept them. :D

Phil has some valid points too. Hope this helps out on your questions.
