I just bought a CZ 550 Medium standard in 300 Win mag. I am considering puting a Leupold Rifleman series scope on it. I am thinking of spending 300 to 400 bucks. Any suggestions? Suggestions on any other scope in this price range would be welcomed. I will be using CZ 550 rings. Thanx:)

For about $450, you can get a Leupold VXII to put on your rifle. I have a VXII and a VXI on a couple of rifles, and the VXII is a clearer, brighter scope (not that the VXI is bad or anything). The Rifleman and VXI line have friction windage / elevation adjustments while the VXII scopes have click adjustments and better lens coatings. The friction dials work, but I much prefer the "click" adjustments.

The Bushnell Elite 3200s seem to be popular with a lot of hunters too, but the Leupolds offer a little better eye relief, which might be something to consider with a .300 mag. There are a lot of scopes in your price range that you could look at including Burris, Weaver, and a few more, but Leupolds are serviced in Okotoks. In the unlikely event that something goes wrong, you won't have any hassles getting it repaired.

Although I don't have a problem with the scopes themselves, I do have a problem with Leupolds Canadian pricing. In the U.S. the Rifleman is less expensive than an Elite 3200 and a VX-1 is the same price. In both instances the Elite is a better scope and quite significantly so when compared to the Rifleman. For your price point you will get some nice glass, but you may wish to consider the Elite 3200,Burris Fullfield 11 or a Nikon.
