Hey guys~I don't own any Leupold scopes, never have. My only experience with them is at shop counters, not outdoors, but to my eyes..there are (or seem to be) better options for the money. Anyhow, I'm considering giving my Anschutz 1450 a little more trigger time this fall, and have decided that the cheap, Chinese scope it's wearing should be upgraded. I like the small size of the Leupold rimfires but have no experience with them. Looking for some input/experiences.

Thanks!

I love mine,

It is nice and compact, lightweight and fits the smaller dimensions of a 22 much better. It has a shorter eye relief, which is nice as most 22 have shorter LOP's. The crosshair is a little too fine in my opinion but you get used to it. You really can't go wrong,

Patrick

I'm a big fan of the Hawke line.
I have their http://opticsthoughts.com/?page_id=110 on my Savage 93FVSS and it is superb.
One thing...looking through a scope at the counter tells you nothing.
Go to your dealer and look at something across the street, first with a pair of $100 Bushnell bino's and then a $2000 pair of Swarovski and you'll see little difference.
Go into the field and look through them for a couple of hours solid and you'll see how much less strained your eyes are with the premium optics.
I used to have a Bushnell cheapie on my Savage (the kit scope). At dusk you couldn't see any details in treed areas that were in shadow...with the Hawke you can count individual leaves. But at the counter they both look pretty much the same.

The Leupold Rimfires are nice scopes, but are limited as to choices.
If you are serious about exploiting the potential of that Anschutz,
buy a Leupold 6.5-20x40 EFR.
Now you have great optics to work well on your accurate rimfire, plus
these will focus right down to less than 20 yards.

Thanks for the replies guys, greatly appreciated. Eagleye~the rifle is a small, field gun..very light and probably a poor choice for bench work. It's never even tasted match-grade ammo, but I've been tempted to try it. My plan is for it to be a carry gun while out sniping grouse, so something light/compact would be ideal.

If you're going to hunt with it I will recommend to you what was recommended to me in the Leupold; the VX2. I went with the 3-9x40mm because it has good performance, nice light weight but still durable and it's a good value for the money with rings. It's not too crazy money if I drop it or fall etc. I have mine mounted up on a CZ Varmit and love it.

For bench work I would go with something else.
