Hi guy's , Does anyone here use the new leupold aluminum scope covers be it either the screw in type or the flip type.I am just looking for feed back on this.

I agree with Beaver. I've been using Butler Crk covers for years with no issues, I can understand how I lived without them! I worry a bit about making them out of aluminum, especially have them rigidly threaded into the scope. If the covers ever got an accidental bump from the side when they were in the open position I think they would be FUBAR'd. The Butler Crk ones are fairly flexible a will tolerate the abuse.
 
I have them and love them. Had one of the first sets.I believe I paid close to $50 for each cover, about $80 for he Raincote kit and $110 for the Lense filter set.
I say if you can afford a Leupold scope (VX3) then you should be able to afford their flip-ups. There is no comparision from the Leupolds to the Butler Creek flipups in my opinion. Its like buying a Corvette and accessorizing it with low end components! As soon as Leupold has their Alumina accessories in silver or the gun metal grey colours, I'll be buying them to match the scopes.
 
I have a set of the screw-in ones, they work perfectly and are tough as nails. Couldn't quite convince myself to spring for the flip-ups, and it's nice to have them completely out of the way when shooting.

I had the (butler-creek?) flip-up ones that came with the scope - they were junk, kept flipping open when I didn't want 'em to.
 
island/mighty peace, I have the mark 4 series of scopes and am wondering how they screw into the eye piece. Do they supply a ring that snaps in and then thread the cover since this leupold scope(mk 4) has no provisions.

My Mk4 had threads at the end of the eyepiece (and of course on the inside of the objective too). Do you maybe have the rubber eyecup on yours?

I dont know about the Mark 4 scopes. All I know is the VX3 line can have the Alumina accessories. If you have an olde VAri-X III, it can be sent out and have the obj and eyepiece ends threaded at Leupold.

Your best bet is to check out Leupold's website, or try calling Korth Agencies in Okotoks, Alberta ...Leupold's Warranty depot for Canada for answers for your ????.

I didn't think these would sell well because of the price but our biggest problem has been keeping them in stock. An interesting feature that a customer pointed out was the covers will fold flat and parallel to the scope if you push them past the first open point and will stay down. This was covered byan illustration in their catalogue but not very well descibed.
 
when I bought a new VXII 2 weeks ago from russels I ordered the alum covers but they didn't have both in stock. so I took the B.C. ones instead.

The first shot I took with it, the flip up cover (which stands straight up) recoiled back and hit peak of my baseball hat... so the rest of the range day I had to wear it backwards :D. the leupolds fliping down flat would be nice.
 
Fantastic covers - both flip-up and regular. Waterproof, well-made, look great on the scope. Well worth the price, and who can complain about the price given what they just paid for the Leupold in the first place?
