I bought a Leupold Ultimate Slam 2-7 33 for my H&R ultra light slug hunter, I was talking to a guy I know about it and he mentioned that I might have been better off getting a Aimpoint red dot, he said they are much faster to get on target and parallax free. I've never fired anything with a red dot, anyone have any experience with the Aimpoint on a slug gun?

I wish I had Ultimate Slam 2-7 33 on my H&R 12 gauge slug hunter. I hunt deer and have just a cheep $100 scope, my buddy has Ultimate Slam on hus Remington slug rifle and man it is so bright and sharp. If you see a deep just before of during sunrise, you can clearly see the antlers ans wont accidently shoot a doe :))
With the red dot you can hunt deer when they are suntanning :))
But anyway, good luck huntin' .......

I don't have any experience with the Aimpont, but I have shot someone elses gun with the Ultimate slam. It's a very nice scope.

You should definitely get the Aimpoint give us a full review and then unload the Leupold on the EE for cheap...

I have had both the leupold U/S and a bushnell red dot on my 20 guage. I prefered the leupold simply because I like to have a bit of magnification for hunting.

Thanks for the replies! I think I will see how the Ultimate slam preforms, this is the first Leupold I've bought, I had a Bushnell that I bought with the gun and had issues with it holding zero and the tracking was wayyy off (1 click was no where near 1/4 inch at 100y) when i zeroed it the first time. I better get this scope zeroed... deer season is coming fast!

I own an h&r ultra slug gun in 12 gauge and I put a nikon slug Hunter. 1 inch groups at 100 yards, love it.

I use the Ultimate slam on my muzzle loader and it is great. You will miss the magnification if you take it off. I had taken it off to use the irons for a season and holy moly was that a difference. When you get use to the best its hard to switch it up.
I recomend keeping the ultimate slam on your rifle.

have an ultimate slam on my encore muzzleloader barrel and on my browning gold 3 1/2" with rifled barrel. another good one is the redfield revenge with accurange, pretty much the same as the SABR on the ultimate slam. have the redfield on my rifled 20 gauge barrel for my encore and all are sighted in for shots out to 200 yards.

A buddy of mine has that same combination and has the same results with 2 3/4" accutips, superb setup!

in my area a Aimpoint would be the best bet do to thick brush and under 100 meter shots. Plus I think the aimpoint would be way faster if the critter was running

Leupold ... especially in low light conditions. The magnification is nice on a slug gun too. Aimpoint is better for more tactical applications
