As the title says, I was wondering if the tube length of the vx-1 would fit on a magnum length action. Is it even a suitable scope for a magnum calibre? I am very new to scopes in general, and am very confused. Thanks for any advice

Scopes work great right up until the shot that breaks it. :)

Here's a Leupold VX-2 3-9x33mm scope on my Remington 798 long action .350 Rem. Mag. You just make the scope fit your rifle with extension rings or bases -

The VX-1 is very comparable to the older VX-ll. See the use of Arabic and Roman numerals? The subtle changes in the naming show when changes were made. It goes from Vari to Roman to Arabic. Basically whenever Leupold upgrades the line-up, features from the 3 series trickle down to the 2s, and the 2s to the 1s. Its not 100 percent accurate to say a new 1 is the same as an old ll but it might as well be.

I wouldn't worry about busting it on a magnum rifle, but I've also found that I am consistently happier paying more and getting more scope.

I've had them on 12ga slug guns shooting 3" sabot slugs(Winchester partition gold) and held zero year to year without problems.

Depends on a couple of things ...here is some info clipped and pasted from Korth Ind FAQ page: www.korthgroup.com/faq#q2

My scope is too short for the action. What should I do?

Today‘s scopes are getting shorter and shorter. You will need to use reversing front and rear bases and extended rings in a lot of cases. It is important to ensure the rings are not against the power selector ring when the scope is mounted, as this will cause damage to the scope under recoil, as well as make it difficult to adjust the power setting.

I have had great success with Leupold over the years and use nothing else.
But, the choice is yours and yours alone to decide whats good for you , kinda like choosing a car.

Buying via E commerce can be a pia when trying to find bits and pieces to get ready for hunting season.
