Leupold VX-3 vs VX-R an opinions on CDS.

Looking at getting one of these scopes the VX-R in 4-12x40mm or the VX-3 in 4.5-14x40mm.

I currently run the VX-3's on all my current rifles but while checking out some scopes the VX-R caught my eye.
I really like the fire dot in the duplex retice to my supprise.

Any infield experience with this scope?

Also both scopes are avalible with the CDS system any opinions on this also?

I have both,but prefer the VX-R.The red dot really draws your focus .You would have to look for yourself.I like the fire dot 4,but that is me.

I thought the same and do like the German 4 reticle typically but I am leaning to towards the CDS and the # 4 isn't avalible in that configuration.

I like the cds system and the firedot. I have the 4-12x40. If you want to pony up the $$ for the VX6 you can get the #4 reticle with the firedot and cds...
