Leupold VX 5 arrival???

Anyone know when the VX 5's will be on store shelves?

VX-5 ???
I never even knew Leupold had a VX-5 line of scopes.
I'm curious about these as I assume they will be better then the VX-3 (or newer VX-3i which I am not familiar with) but a better price point than the VX-6 scopes.
I will have to check these out in my LGS.

I hate this ! To many model numbers , seems like a shell game . They know what the differences are but let us guess . I'm sure these company's do this for their own advantage . Vx 1-vx11 - vx111 -vx1- vx2-vx3 -vxR-mark 4- mark6 , vx 6 , vx 7 ??

Yeah that's correct but the VX6 is no longer made and is now the VX6 HD which starts at $2200 and go up from there. VX 5 would make a great coyote scope, thats what Im after for the fall.

Hopefully this helps with understanding differences in the older models...

Got the chance to peer through a VX5HD in 3-15 X 44mm last week at one of the large box retailers who shall remain nameless. FYI there's only one here in Prince George. That's some impressive glass IMO. For clarity it easily compares to or exceeds my VX6 (nonHD) to my eyes. This was not a side by side comparison.

Another retailer in a nearby community should have some in hand this week apparently. I'm really interested in a 2-10 X 42mm with the illuminated reticle. Should make a great moose/elk optic.

So they have made it across the border.

A few of the VX-5HD's have trickled in and we spent some time checking out a VX-5HD 3-15x44mm CDS-ZL2. The clarity and brightness of the glass was notable, although the Swaro Z5 3.5-18x44mm appears brighter, and the Leica ERi 2.5-10x42 or ER5 2-10x50mm have much sharper definition (for comparables).

The most impressive features, however are the 30mm tube, the light weight of the scope (1.22lbs), and the dual-turn turret (38 moa!). This makes this scope very attractive, particularly to those looking to build, ultra-light, long-range setups. The price is attractive as well (MAP is $1367) putting it well below the Swarovski Z5's or a Nightforce SHV.

And Dave&Dar, the VX-5HD 2-10x42mm (30mm) CDS-ZL2 Matte FireDot Duplex is on its way. Please let me know if you are interested in a quote.

Cheers,

Omer
