I'm looking for a new scope and the VX6 3-18x44 varmint reticle looks good. I have a .308 rifle that I'm putting together and it'll be used for target shooting out to 500 + yards and for moose hunting. Anybody running this scope ? Is it clear on the high end? I know it's good for hunting but is it good for target shoring at that distance? I've read 18 power is good for target shooting . I like this scope because it's light but clarity is very important . Thanks

I had the lluminated derision of the scope your referring to mounted on a Supergrade.Although optically it is ok the adjustment is quite stiff.

I don't have one but to my eye they appear to be top notch. Personally for hunting I don't like a fine reticle in low light conditions. Too hard to find the reticle in what is sometimes only seconds of opportunity. The price though is certainly up there isn't it. I don't think 18 power is required up to 500 yards but that is my opinion only.

I have a VX3 6.5-20x40 with the VHR. Similar, but different scope. Good for long range, small/still targets but I really wouldn't think it would be a great scope for moose hunting. For that, I'd want something with lower magnification, heavier reticle, and less sensitive eye relief.
