Leupold VX-6

Excellent glass, well made, great warranty.

But you do pay a premium for "made in the USA" products simply because the production costs are the most expensive of anywhere that scopes are made. Only you can decide if that provides any "value" and right now with our buck in the tank adds a further premium to the price.

On the flip side of that, Leupold does hold it's value very well if you plan on "flipping" the scope a year or so down the road. If you are going to put it on and leave it you can get "more scope" for the same money unless you need that (name) on the side of the scope.

The name isn't really a must for me... although I do have two VX-3's, and I am well pleased with those. I doubt I'll ever be flipping it... or anything for that matter. Honestly, I have never sold any guns or scopes... never will. Well, "maybe" a scope... but I can't bring myself to sell any of my guns. The only scopes I have ever got rid of were a couple cheap bushnells lol.

What others would you recommend for the same price ?
 
Love my VX6, was a great deal used. If weight is a factor, and nothing rivals the weight and features of the 3-18x44. Unfortunately they are creeping into nightforce SHV price range, which is a sturdier, better scope if you don't mind 10 or more extra ounces.

Also consider Leupold is launching the vx6HD models, the 3-18x44 was discounted to $749US at cabelas in the states on Black Friday. I expect current models to be cleared out for the new ones.
 
Nightforce shv (56mm), is quite a bit cheaper than the 50mm VX-6... in my neck of the woods anyway

I just checked cabelas Canada and the VX6 is MORE than the SHV. I'm not sure these are in the same class. I've owned both, and one is a light, svelt, feature packed hunting scope. The other is a TANK at + 3/4lb
 
Cabela's seems a bit high... damn near $2000 for the VX-6..... and you can get a nightforce nxs for $2400 through hirsch precision. I think I'd pay the extra $500 for the NXS, before I'd pay $2000 for the VX-6 through cabela's

Nightforce I think is junk... got the 5.5x22x50 and it's not clear like the other three I mentioned
Just my opinion
When it comes to glass buy something good.. worst case you can put on another rifle
