Hey Gang,

Looking to put a scope on my deer rifle (Tikka T3 Lite SS Synthetic .260 Rem) after removing one that just had too much mag and was heavier than I'd like for this rifle. I'm looking at a Leupold VX-Freedom 3-9x40 as I can no longer find a VX-2. Admittedly, I'm unsure if the VX-Freedom is as good as a VX-2 (as I understand it, the scope is VX-2 internals with VX-1 externals) for withstanding snow and rain, so I'm just looking to see if anyone on here can comment to that or if anyone thinks that there is a better scope in the same mag range for this rifle.

Thanks in advance!

I was impressed with my VX-Freedom from Prophet for $360 all in.

It zeroed easily and the capped turret was a little better than expected.

Depends what you're gonna pay IMO if you find either one for a good price they are both good.

I have the Freedom 1.5-4 ?think that is waht it is). Glass is as good as my VXII, but the dials are kind of squishy if that is tje best term. It dialed in fine but the clicks were not that crisp. If you are looking for a hunting scope for tje Tikka tjst you do not plan to constantly adjust, it will be fine. On the other hand someone else made a good point to wait for a VXII to come up if you are not I'm a hurry.

I have the vx-freedom in 2-7 and 3-9, very happy with them so far. Nice and clear, and hold their zero just fine. As mentioned, the clicks are not as crisp as some higher priced models, but they seem to work fine.
