Leupold now has the VX Freedom line of scopes. Does anyone know how the freedom compares in quality to the older VX 1, 2 and 3 series?

Well Google fu says Leupold reps say it's VX2 glass with some additional reticles and a lower price.
I like the looks of the new tri-moa reticle, should work nice as a general purpose hunting reticle.

The ones i"ve played with, the glass has been sharp and clear (VX Freedom Rimfire) much nicer than the nikon. But.. the turrets seemed cheaper with kinda mushy not very positive clicks when adjusted.

I was looking for a light weight 2-7 for my 308. I had a choice and decided on a clearance priced VX-2 2-7x33 instead of the new cheaper priced Freedom.

No complaints with my VX-3i and VX-2.

I've shot a 3-9x Freedom on a Tikka 338. Was straight forward to sight in and the scope appears to be a good value

I find the same mushy turrets with my VX-Hog (not the better VX-R version) compared to my VX-3.

Gave a VX Freedom, 3-9x40, Duplex Reticle, a test shoot today.
Planted on a Rem M7 308, first 2 shots 1/2" right, nice.
2 clicks left, zeroed.
Glass looks clearer than a VX1, not as clear as the VX3i, turrets decent enough
18 rounds later, still accurate as heck, darn good scope for the price.
