In the old Leupold catalogs, this is listed as a "Shotgun" model. What makes it different from a shotgun model and is it useable on rifles? Thanks.

Shotgun miodels have the parallax set to shorter range like 60-75 yds. and sometimes have specific reticles for shotgun use. Other than that they are the same as rifle models which in Leupold is 150 yds. Phil.

I have a 1-4 "shotgun" scope from Leup and aside from parallax it has a heavy reticle. The thin wires are about 2X as thick and really stand out in bush. The wires JUST cover a 6" bull @200yds. In my opinion this is the best reticle if you're hunting in the bush and may require a quick shot. I've shot sub MOA groups(some, not many) out to 200yds with this scope so the dimensions are not a problem, actually a help. Without the front bell the scope is light and trim and looks good on a shotgun or rifle. (Sorry I sound like a sales rep, great scope).
