I am looking for a new scope for my winchester featherweight .270. I want an objective smaller than the 3-9x40 that is currenty mounted.

How do you guys like your ultralight 3-9's? Am I sacrificing anything tangible by going to the Vx-II instead of the III? How do the Ultralight scopes fare in terms of durability? are they really that much lighter than its VxIII counterpart?

Thanks

The 33mm VX-II is 250g as opposed to the 36mm VX-III which is 323g. I have owned a few of the 2.5-8x36mm VX-III's and never liked them all that much(personal preference). Never owned ultralight VX-II so I cant comment there.

Just my own preference, I do notice better optics in the 111's over the 11's. Never tried any of the ones you've mentioned though. I've used VX1's on some heavy recoiling guns 338mag, 450Marlin(way worse recoil than 338), 12ga slugs and never had an issue. Any scope can go south but in my experience Leup has withstood a lot of punishment.

I have an VXII 3-9x33 Ultralight and a VX3 and VXIII 4.5-14x40. I have broken the ultralight 3 times now, Leupy keeps fixing it, and I keep breaking it. It lasts about 10 shots on my 5.8 pound 325wsm. For my money and use I would go with the VX3 again if I was buying a new scope. I can notice the difference in the quality of the glass, and the adjustments track better with the few I have.
