I have been reading on some american sites that Leupold has come out with an upgrade to their previous model VXII, the VX2. I am wondering if anyone has seen one, and can share their thoughts. Also Does anyone know when we can expect to see these here in Canada?

gtrussell are you refering to the vxII that has been here for a while? I am wondering about the new for 2012 vx2 model that has the finger adjustable dials like the vx3. Cabelas usa has them listed, and shows the vxII as "sold out"

I have a VX2 4-12x40 AO with LRD duplex on my sako m75ss 243......love it !! Had it for couple years now. This is the lowest end Leupold I have on my rifles. Most are VX3's with a couple of the older Leupold Vari-X III's.

I guess for all the criticis out there....my scope is the VXII on my 243. I do have a few VXIII's and 2 VX3's and a couple of the Vari-X III's.

I'm always amazed how many guys get mixed up and confuse the Vari-XII or Vari-XIII, VXII or VXIII, and VX2 or VX3. Even the FXIII and FX3 get mixed up regularly. The VX2 is brand new, and I'd be surprised if it's even hit the shelves in Canada yet.

Amazed? Leupold makes it pretty easy to get confused. Perhaps if they stuck to a few names and just upgraded those, it'd be a little easier to decipher.

Yep, you missed a few, and yessir, I am amazed. Mostly I'm amazed when people on this site mix them up because of all the threads and posts that constantly talk about the difference between the different models! For the average guy who does not frequent this site to get the models mixed up, that would not be unexpected or out of the ordinary. I guess I just expect a lot more from Gun Nutz, especially with the enormous amount of information that floats around here about these models.

I certainly agree that Leupold isn't doing us any favours with their nomenclature, though ;)

And there are some of us who don't care enough about Leupold to study the differences and updates. :D

I think its a good system. The model number tells you where it fits in the lineup, which generation of updates and hense it's age, then the specs. It's all Greek if you don't speak the language though.

Its sort of like describeing a truck by make, model, year, trim level then throwing the engine, drivetrain type and gear ratio in for good measure.

I think people put VX2 or VX3 when they have an older scope, because they are too lazy to type that extra digit on the keyboard...;p

Well that's true! But then again, you aren't advertising a Vari-XIII scope for sale as a VX3 scope, either. I've seen that once or twice... ;)

And the majority of the Vari-X's you see advertised the seller wants the same as a new VX-3...save the tax!

There doesn't exist on the used market a more overpriced scope than Leupold.
People just can't seem to grasp that there 15 year old Vari-X-III with friction dials is not comparable to a VX-3, even at their blow-out price of fifty dollars less than a new model.

Its not hard to read your scope ring...if its says VX II call it a VXII, not a Vari-X II or a VX2 or a Very-Ex Duex....its not hard.

But dammit those scope rings are solid gold man! I have to throw on my shades to read the engraving on mine.
BLING BLING BAZINGA!!!

I have to say I sure hate that gumby-gold medallion on the side of my VX-3's.
It's like a picture of a quaker or something, seriously ghey-bar. :p
