Leupold VX3 3.5-10x40mm or Swarovski Z3 3-10x42mm

I am looking for your thoughts and opinions on choosing one of these scopes. It will be going on a custom hunting rifle that will be used for recreational target shooting out to 300 yds.

Without a doubt, the Swarovski. I have owned four Swarovski av 3-10x42 scopes, and all were excellent. My eyes find the optics of the Z-3 superior to the VX3.

Swarovski, no question, much clearer glass.

I settled for the Z3 x42mm with the plex reticle. I was seriously considering the x36mm but thought the x42mm would be more beneficial in the event that I stretch my shots further than 300yds(mostly paper punching). Hopefully it isn't too bulky because I want it to be functional and aesthetically pleasing. This will be my first Swarovski so I am excited and optimistic about using it. Now I just have to wait patiently for Dennis to build my rifle.

I am curious about your preference for reticle 4? Do you find it to be the best for both hunting and target shooting?

Any suggestions as to where I can purchase some nice Talley lwt's and what height? The barrel is a SS McGowen #3 sporter.
