Anyone here have a Leupold VX-R.

Just bought a M14 set up as a DMR and looking to put a 3-9x40 or 2-7x33 on it. I can get both locally or online.

I'm not 100% sold on it, and am open to alternatives.

It will set me back about 600 bucks locally, so that's my price range for other options.

I avoid all illuminated scopes, as with proper reticles, they aren't necessary, they just add unnecessary weight. I had the opportunity to try a VXR a couple of weeks ago, and I prefer the near constant eye relief,as well as the optical qualities of the Zeiss Conquest.

Illuminated scopes really help in the golden half hour before and after sunup, sundown. If you are able to try one out,you will notice the eye relief never changes with leupold scopes.Unlike the zeiss.

Then Leupold must be lying when they publish the eye relief of their scopes. Notice the difference listed for the minimum and maximum magnification.

The VXR 3-9 is one of the more constant eye relief scopes, and it varies by 1/2"
