I'm planning on getting a Leupold Mk4 scope, and just wondering how the warranty works? Is it transferable, are stiff or are they good at replacing and fixing items. I know the Vortex warranty is about as good as it gets, with no questions asked they will fix or replace it no matter what happened and you don't need the receipt or box. Is the Leupold warranty close to them?

mattf87, I had a scope that was a fixed 10Xthat was many years old.
Sent it to Korth Ind. in Alberta in a Bushnelle elite series box as that was all that i had for that old scope.
Along went a cover letter with my name and address and what I thought was wrong with it.
Two weeks later it came back repaired and some info or its regulation (tracking bench test ?)
for the last three years give or take a year, they will not work on scopes (Leupold) imported from the USA, there is much discussion
surrounding this agreement(issue) between Korth Ind. and Leupold USA.
Also beware of the counterfeit scopes (Leupold) that are out there allegedly one was sighted in a large box store, but I think there was some trolling going on in that report.
Leupolds are great scopes for the money.

If you buy it new in Canada and it was handled by Korth then expect top rate service. If its a gray market scope, like bought from a retailer who didn't import through korth then expect top rate service only if you can get it back to Leopold USA as Korth won't touch it.

Is the warranty transferable like Vortex's or is it only to the original owner with receipt or something stupid like that?? I'm looking at a used one, so just wondering what the warranty situation will be like.

The warranty is transferable , they do not ask for receipts, As mentioned as long as the scope was sold by a Canadian dealer or predates the agreement then they handle the warranty,

I sent my VX3 in about 3 months ago and it repaired and sent back within 2 weeks. Came back with a nice little report and no questions asked....I was actually quite impressed!

That is awesome customer service and fast turn around. I just purchased my first Leupold scope, it is the Mark 4 2.5-8x36mm MR/T M2. Does any one have any experience with this scope? I have owned a couple Vortex with no issues, but I love the security of the no questions no hassle warranty Vortex offers. I am glad to hear that Leupold offers basically the same warranty, and am really excited to get this scope.

better to have it but not need it. Plus thier excellent turn around time cant be beat.

I sent in a VX ii scope to have target turrets installed and had it back in a week several years ago.

I also was under the impression that the non servicing of non korth scopes was for newer scopes, ones such as mine from the mid 90's are good to go

It's a good scope but why people get so excited about the warranty is beyond me, it's like everyone expects they'll need to use it. Sad.

For a few reasons. If something ever happens it's nice to have that security in your pocket, even if you drop it and it breaks. Also for resale value because its transferable, which many companies don't do, and even if the scope is 10 years old its still covered.

The scope comes with the TMR reticle, which I have read that people like more then the other ones. I am excited.

I called Leupold, and they said even if it is from the USA that the warranty would still go through Korth in Canada due to border regulations. Not sure if he knew what he was talking about or if that is true.
