Does leupold have a product manufactured in china? Glass torrents or any other part involved in the making of a leupold scope

I do not believe so. Check with Korth Group Ltd. in Okotoks, Alberta.

Why the China question?
Well I talked to a Friend and he insisted there’s 3 company’s that don’t have product made in china is Khalas Swarovski and a 3rd manufacturer I can’t remember the third…. I own a lower end leupold and it says on the box it’s from the USA

So what is it you are you looking for?
Korth is the warranty depot for Leupold in Canada.
They are wonderful to deal with.
If you are looking for something else....

You friends been smoking the drapes. Lots not made in China even tho there's more than most think.

Maybe he's referring to the knockoff Leupolds out there's. Lots of those and they're all Chinese. Easy to spot tho.

There are plenty of Leupold clones that are coming out of China. The most common clones I have seen are based on the Mark 4 3-10X40, both illuminated and non-illuminated variants. I have encountered a couple "LEOPOLD" based on the VariX II 3-9X40 and VarX III 3-10X40 that were very convincing based on their geometry but the spelling error in the branding was an immediate tell. Serial numbers can be confirmed through Leupold or Korth.

Contact LEUPOLD in the USA with the scope serial # and they will tell you all about it ifs A GENUINE Leupold scope ! RJ
Depends the year of manufacture.
I called on a VX-III and they said it was made prior to their switch to digital records and they wouldn’t confirm if it was legit or not.
I took a chance as I didn’t think counterfeiters would copy an older, silver, lower magnification scope (2-7x36) and I’m glad I did.
I believe it is a true Leupold (looks identical to my others, glass and turrets are the same), matches the rifle perfectly and has great glass.

I believe this has been discussed before with the conclusion that Leupold Scopes are all US made and assembled. There's a sticky here how to spot the difference between a real Leupold and a Chinese copy.

No idea what share are "made" in the U.S. but Assembled only are likely a majority. Leupold doesn't make glass so right off the hop we know that's imported. I'd bet most of it and many of their components or models come via LOW.

LOW produced way better stuff than Leupold

Assembled in the USA is correct, but they do not disclose who their glass suppliers are (most optics companies don't unless it's specifically a selling feature). They do mention that they have been buying glass elements from external vendors for the last 50 years rather than making their own. LOWs trade records are public however, which is how people know which scope companies are customers of theirs.

Not disclosing who the supplier is does offer some flexibility however in being able to switch suppliers to meet their needs. "Europe" and "Asia" are pretty vague, so they could be sourcing from Schott or from Schitt depending on the price point they are trying to hit.

I'd bet good money they don't buy Shott or any other European glass version. If they did they'd use it as a sell point. At best they are good Japanese glass.

As it stands now the Euro brands using Euro glass have a big advantage in the quality dept. Which, when you think about it, really makes one wonder why Leupold scopes are pretty much right with the Euros on price when they really should not be.
