hey guys theres a leupold VX2 3-9x40 on the EE right now and im thinking about it for my Wifes Savage 111F in 7mm Rem-Mag.

will this be a good scope for that rifle? i ask because the rifle was a package deal from savage and the bushnell that was on it wouldnt hold zero, she wants the same power but obviously we need a better quality scope...

i since put that bushnell on my 8mm mauser and it holds zero.

I have both VXI and VXII's in 3-9x40 on my hunting rifles and I think they are good hunting scopes. It's a brand I have faith in.

Not on topic of optics, but I had a Savage 111 in 300 Win Mag, and I found the barrel very sensitive to heat. Every shot resulted in climbing point of impact. I initially thought it was the scope. Take lots of time between shots, and be conscious of your first cold bore shot is my advice.

hmm...thanks for the note i wanted to put a new (better) scope on it any way but ill do that when i get the new one..

I have a VXII 4-12x40 on my 243 and mounted either VXIII's and the a couple of the older Vari-X III's - great scopes - on all my other rifles. The VX2 you seek in the EE would be a great scope for your 7mmRM.
