Hi, did any companies ever make a lever action chambered in 22 Hornet?
Or will I be stuck footing the bill for a custom job.

Thanks, Arch:)

Win. '53 also made in .218 Bee and modern Browning '53 both are derivatives of the Win.'92.....not aware of lever action Hornets.

Youd it be difficult to make one? There must be a Marlin action around the right size. It would be a nice rig, I love the Hornet, have two K Hornets. They have levers but they are single shots.

There is a Marlin classic in 25-20 that could be adapted by fitting up a new barrel. You could use the flat point Bee bullets, only difficulty is that they are not cannelured, so bullets might be pushed back into cases in the tube magazine.

The Bee would be a better choice I'd think. There are factory lever guns in that caliber, and it's a shorter cartridge with similar performance for a shorter action and lever swing. I don't know if a lever Bee would make a good platform for a lever Hornet, the action might not be long enough. If not then you'd have to base it on a longer action gun, where feeding might become an issue

The Bee is based on the 25-20, necked down to .224. It has slightly more capacity, but it's similar if not identical in ballistics to the Hornet.

And I know where there is a Marlin 1894 CL in .218 Bee......

;-)

EDIT:

PS) OK guys, I put this in to play with Arch's head a bit (we go back a ways....). The gun is NOT for sale, so please stop asking!

Where'd you get the Marlin in .218? I had a Browning in .218 Mashburn Bee and like a fool I sold it many moons ago. I now have a Marlin in .219 Zipper. (aren't leveraction varmint guns cool :D ) It's a 30-30 necked down to .224". Velocities are in the 3100-3300fps range with a Hornady 45grn HP Bee. These bullets are cannelured so there's no issues with bullet creep. It also has a better B.C. than the FP Bee bullets.

Good luck with the Bee....BTW...I'm jealous.

Hi Tim, it will be my second center fire varmint lever. I have a Win 92 in 25-20 and absolutely love that rifle. Hopefully the Bee will end up a favorite as well.

Cool looking rfle. What's that awful looking thing bolted to the top of it?

It blocks the spot where a good peep sight would mount!

It didn't come with open sights. Anyone know where I can get some to fit this rifle?

Arch:)

Assuming that there's dove tails for and aft, SIR sells Marbles sights which are a great match for your rifle arch. Personally I'd probably go with a Lyman or Williams receiver peep site  but keep the scope around for kicks too...
