I'm looking at buying a lever action just for plinking. I have looked at the Marlin 39A, a little more than I want to spend. The Winchester 9422 seem hard to find. The Henry H001 or H001T look quite nice and are reasonably priced. Anyone have any thoughts or suggestions?

The only experince i have with a lever 22 is from a friends 9422.as you said hard to find but in my opinion well worth looking for.a very nice handling smooth operating rifle.its really to bad that it is no longer made.reading on RFC the henerys seem to have a good following.the browning BL 22 is another nice looking rifle if one can be found.

I bought a Henry youth model for my kids a couple years ago. It's a great little rifle. Silky smooth. Accurate. The front sight is kinda crude and I'm not the best with open sights, but it seems like a keeper to me. I assume the full size model would be the same.
I will likely get a peep sight for it soon.
Great rifle for the price.

I love my Henry!! So does my wife I think I need another it's a h001. Great customer support too. PM me if you want details on the customer service.

At present I have a Winchester Model 9422.Great little rifle. In the past I owned a Marlin Model 39 M.It was a great little rifle as well.Could not go wrong with either one in my opinion.

I have owned a Marlin 39 for some time and I absolutely love it. It is one of my never sell rifles. They are not cheap but well worth the money. Recently I picked up a youth Henry for my son. It is incredible IMHO for the money. As others have stated, it is silky smooth and a pleasure to shoot.

Hey Stan I stated I love my henry well I have a friend who has a BL22 Browning lever action and he was so pissed at me because his gun was worth twice as much but mine was smoother and more accurate :D:nest:

I have a 9422 XTR that was given to me by my grandparents as a xmas gift aound 1985 or 86. It is a wonderful little rifle and surprisingly accurate for a lever. I have shot many bricks of ammo through it and just love it. I would say if you can afford it then get one, it will last a lifetime. My other choice would be for the Browning, they are just fabulous with their short throw action lever. :)

Strange, no mention of the Erma Werke Wagonmaster?
Might be a little hard to find since they don't make them
anymore, but they are quite nice if you find one in good
condition.
