I have a browning lever action in .22 LR. Somebody told me that it will be able to take the .22 short. ( less noise ) does it true?

the gun may be able to shoot the shorts but realistically the bullet is far short of the rifling in the barrel. It may lead to premature wear on the throat. thus enlarging the chamber. Like using a .308 cart in a 303.rifle. The casings may fit , but the length is far too short.

I tried 22 short in a 22 LR semi. It not only fed, but it operated the slide just fine. Think it was a Marlin.

But 22 shorts ar expensive. I have a 22 short pistol and 22 short Winchester pump. Bought a couple briks of shorts and noted they cost twice as much as the cheap 22 LR.

If you want quiet ammo, but Algula Super Colbri. Sound like a air rifle.
