I'm considering getting a lever action rifle for small game. I also would like to use it for plinking.

I like Browning rifles in general. The BL-22 and BLR in 223 Rem are tempting.

What about a Henry Big Boy in 357/38 special

Any thoughts or first hand opinions?

I have a Winchester/Miroku 92 in 44-40 that's been designated the new bunny gun since SK banned the cartridge for deer.

Should be fun.

I like my Henry .357.

Chose the BL-22 for our cabin pest control and prefer the short throw lever action. 22 short for close range squirrel size and 22LR for coon size pest control.

But my favorite goto cabin rifle... Henry 44mag with a 12" barrel.

Read my older post on my Henry... bottom line... my never to sell rifle.

I have a norinco lever .22 it's fun and all, but I use my 1906 Winchester pump a bit more. The lever is fun in its own, I just need to smooth up the lever a bit, the edges are a bit sharper then they should be for cycling it, and I need to break it in better, but it is a cool little rifle.

I think you'd enjoy a Henry, my friend had one and it's a little bit more refined.

Had an Ithaca 72 saddlegun which is what Henry bought/copied I believe.I use my 1892 Win original in 44-40 de-capped a grouse a couple days ago. Just head choot e'm.

The Ithaca 72 had an alloy receiver that I didn't care for .Do the Henry's also have this ? Was all set to buy a Henry long rifle with the octagon barrel at a local store but the owner said,I probably got one upstairs but I'd have to look, then promptly sat back down and ignored me.

Strictly for hunting I would look for a Ruger model 96 /22m You can't go wrong with the model 92, I prefer the 25-20 wcf over the 357 mag but I am old fashioned what some might consider a FUDD even. A Marlin in 32/20 wcf would also be a good choice
