Lever Arms' mysterious Mossberg 590-A1 w/ 18" barrel?

Hi,

Lever Arms' web site has a "NEW" Mossberg 590-A1 with 18" barrel (parkerized heavy version) and ghost ring sights. The price tag is $650. :eek:

I went to their store to take a look. Yes, it is true. It looks nice. But I didn't take a picture.

However I couldn't find this product on Mossberg's web site (see below).

Have anybody seen this new model elsewhere?

I kind of like the 18" barrel, because the 20" barrel on the other 590 or 590-A1 guns always seems a little too long for a "tactical" shot gun.

I may want to buy this one, and am curious about whether there is anybody else who carries the same one so I can shop around a little.

Although I didn't look on Lever Arms site, the 20" Mossberg 590A1 with bayo mount and heat shield that we're all used to is not the only version that was made for the publice or the USMC/Army. There were other shorter versions lacking the accessories but still using the thread on mag tube cap like the regular 590A1 and Remingtons 870. These might have
been made in limited editions or for special contracts, as I have not seen any advertisements for these in years.

I did look at the site and this is the other version I was thinking of. I believe it was also made with an even shorter barrel for Mil/Police.

I got my 18.5" 590-a1 from WSS for 419.95 back in Jan. No ghost rings, just a bead, but the short, heavy barrel swings sweet. It's the same model the US Navy uses, mucho fun.
 
OK, I tried and Googled "Mossberg Law Enforcement", and something called Mossberg AIMPRO Tactical showed up (see picture below). It is the closest to what I saw in Lever Arms.

The differences are:
1) The one in Lever Arms does not have the ported barrel;
2) The forearm grips are different (The Lever Arms version is the normal Mossberg grip, instead of the Hogue grip);
3) The stock on the Lever Arms version is the "Speed-Feed" Stock, however the AIMPRO Tactical has the Hogue stock.

My bead sighted 590-a1 is model #51411, ghost ring speedfeed is #51518. I think the ghost rings are @70 bucks from mossberg. Mossberg doesn't list the LE models on their website anymore, AIMPro is just a service center that does mods as well (the one in the pic). Any of the models that start with #51### are the heavy barrelled, metal trigger guard and safety.

Some models do, some models dont. Check out Wolverines price list for a full listing of 870P in all the different configurations.
