OK, so I bought 2 SVTs from Lever Arms last December... one for me and one for my son.

I paid extra for hand pick, etc... and got exactly what I wanted.

We brought them to the cottage during the Christmas holidays, gave them a thorough cleaning and then had fun shooting them.

However, when we unpacked them, there was nothing in there except the respective magazines.... no tools, no oiler, no ammo pouch... nothin' :(

So... I sent a nice email to Lever Arms saying how satisfied I am with the SVTs and would like to receive the tools, oiler and pouch X2 as they were not included in my order.

No reply...

Thinking I may have been in error and that the above mentioned items were NOT included in the special price, I checked with CGN members who also took advantage of this deal and they reported receiving the above mentioned items.

So... I sent a second email to Lever Arms, saying I checked with others who purchased SVTs from them and they received the tools, oiler and pouch and that I would like to receive my items X2 as they were missing from my order.

Still no reply. :(

Do they not reply to emails ??

Should I simply pick up the phone ??

Thx !!

I'd pick up the phone and see what the score is. The gentlemen I spoke with at Lever was very pleasant when I was ordering mine. It's very possible they were omitted for any one number of reasons; the large volume being shipped at that time would be my guess.

I hear a lot of bad about lever arms from bad service to bad attitude workers, I have personally experienced bad attitude from the long haired guy behind the counter. I think you should pick up the phone and talk to the manager and see if you can get your stuff. Either way I think you stay away from them simply because they are so hit and miss, some guys love them and some hate them. I find that to be too bipolar to even bother with them no matter how good the deal which is why I passed on their 250 dollar svt and 169 dollar sks simply because you don't know for sure what kind of service you will get. Stick to site sponsors like westrifle, tradex, hical . I have been a customer of theirs many times.

I got a basic cleaning kit (no brush - but the pin punch and jag), oiler, and a Mosin ammo pouch. After the hassle I went through just to get them to ship the darn thing a week and a half after they'd rung the charges up on my CC, I was pretty much done with them.

The rifle seems in great shape, overall, although I haven't gotten a chance to shoot it yet. But that was my first and likely last dealing with Lever. Not going to go on a rant or anything, just going to take a "life is short, move on, go with dealers that care about their customers."

If you need finishing bits for your SVT's, go with Corwin Arms. Martin is great to deal with and will go out of his way to keep your business. He's also deeply knowledgeable about all the red rifles. I keep an eye out for his comments in the threads - he gives some solid advice. He's even willing to tell you which competitor will do right by you if you're looking for something he's out of stock on/doesn't carry, and that, my friend, is a sign of both class, and confidence in his ability to keep customers by doing right by them.

I forgot to mention Corwin Arms in my earlier post, they are awesome to deal with and anyone looking for a decent scope should check out their Pilad made in Russia scopes. They come in fixed power 4x and 6x with illuminating dot, I got the 6x one and love it

I've had some small problems with Lever, but they have always been resolved with an email or phone call and to be honest there are not many gun stores that I have dealt with where at some point in time I haven't had a small problem, but in the end things always work out.

Cheers

You bought Milsurp's, if you had bought say a Patriot ordinance for $2700 I'm sure your email would have been answered. I'd say chalk it up to a loss and spread the bad word.

I think the notched SVT's are priced at what they are due to rarity - there was only like 51 000 of em made wasn't there?

1.6 mil SVTs made, so thats only 3% of production. If anything, I would say its surprising they are only twice the cost considering the relative rarity of the sniper variant. The mosin sniper variants go for 3-4 times the price of a regular one...

An SVT-40 from 40 or 41 with a notch is worth about four hundred. I paid five hundred for mine because it was a mint '42 Tula and those are harder to find. Paying $700 or more to a place like Lever would make me wonder if they were even authentic

I got the accessories with mine from lever but I did not hand select. I had read from a vendor (not lever) that different crates come with different or possibly no accessories. Some with slings/oilers/etc others have some or none, so perhaps the crate your hand select was picked from had no accessories. Just a guess. I have only ordered once from lever and I am happy with my SVT, it was a smooth purchase.
