Is it just my 1895GS or is it all levers that like to get unscrewed?

I took some buddies to the range for a nice fun recoilish time and after about 10 shots of some semi-spicy loads a large screw fell out from the left side of the reciever. When I originally purchased the gun I tightened all the screws down a fair bit because most of them were quite loose.

What gives?

I just got back from the range a few hours ago and had been firing my .444 Marlin. The only thing that came loose was my dental fillings. My lever gun shooting has been limited to my .444, but I've never had screws come loose. And that's after a couple hundred, hard kicking, rounds over 15+ years. Maybe a little Loctite is required for your rifle's screws.

I've had a couple Marlins, including a 1895 and a 94, but never had any screws come loose. Sounds like a job for LocTite, like the others recommended.

Common to Marlins that do a bit of volume shooting. Happens to me frequently with both my Marlin 1894C and my 1895 Guide after a range session.
I simply carry a stubby screwdriver and every 30 rounds or so I snug them.
Blue Loctite would work as others have stated but I frequently tear-down my rifles and to keep re-applying Loctite would be a messy hassle. Hunting is a non-issue as your not firing enough rounds in the field to cause any backing of the screws. I love my Marlins just the way they are ;)

I've read, but not researched it, that there's a new "softer" purple Loctite intended for smaller screws that still need to be removed. Check on it and if this wasn't just a rumour it could well be the answer.

Either way with the small size of most gun screws it's a fine line between tight enough and stripped. If you don't have the feel for "tight enough" then some blue or purple Loctite is a better solution than "stripped".
