lever loop leather wrap?

Having a bit of trouble Googling this stuff. I'm finding my hands getting a big banged up with my new 1894. I really like the look of those leather wraps on the loop and it should help my hand! Is there someone on here that sells them or maybe has instructions to make them? My girlfriend is pretty talented and can probably make one if she sees plans.

Any help is greatly appreciated from me and my knuckles!
 
I picked up some leather boot laces and it looked pretty good. Took about 10 minutes and very little skill. I took it off though as I was afraid that the leather would retain moisture and cause rust.
 
I just went to the local craft store, and bought some leather strands.

1 thing I have found though is that the leather seems to be really dry and before you wrap the lever rub the leather down with some gun oil. I also make sure to keep it slightly oiled when I clean the gun so it doesn't dry out. Prolly helps with any rust concerns as well.
