Lewis Gun Cover or 1st Pattern Bren Cover???

Can any one identify this cover, I thought it was for a Lewis, but was told it was a 1st pattern Bren cover. I dug out my mk I Bren and it does seem to fit...

My money is on a Lewis cover. The barrel area is too large for a bren, and it was not like the Brits to waste any material on these types of pouches.

On the other hand here is a photo from a British militaria website where they call the cover "SCARCE BRITISH BREN GUN action cover, early pattern and dated 1944 "

That's what I thought too. But if you go onto weaponsonline forum there is a thread there correcting David Gordon on this. (weaponsonline.proboards.com/index.cgi?board=lewis&action=display&thread=566)

I think, in light of overwhelming evidence to the contrary, I need to change my original answer from Lewis to Bren.
