I have the opportunity to pick up an 1894 Lee carbine, its either cavalry or artillery I think. Comes from the enfield armoury , has a birmingham stamp, I believe it is medford rifling. I'm looking for any info on these rifles along with potential value 0-1000 based on condition. Maybe a reference book.

thanks in advance.

Probably the single best reference is The Lee Enfield Story by Ian Skennerton. Value will very much depend on condition, any modifications, etc. In nice original condition, it will have significant value, could exceed your$1000 range.

I've paid $2500 for an all matching RNWMP one a couple of years ago.. and as little as $425 at a local gunshow, for Militia one in pretty nice shape with the "clearing rod".....(NO!!! I didn't feel bad about it, the guy was a dealer, and should have known better.... hee hee)
