Lf info on the 338-06AI & 6.5-06 AI

I am having a 338-06AI built as well as a 6.5-06AI. wondering if anyone has experience with these cals. load info, velocities or hunting experience. Anyting would be help full.

I had an HVA built in ~91 that was a 338-06 cut with a 30-06 AI body pushed further ahead to leave a 0.330" neck. It was halfways between a regular 338-06AI and a 340 Gibbs.

It would push a 225 at over 2800 fps with a 24" bbl and around 68 grains of RL19 or IMR4831. This was a pretty hot load but cases lasted fine.

My current 338-06 (non-AI) will push the same bullet at just under 2700 fps with a 22" barrel and 62 grains of IMR4350.

Some rifles will have difficulty feeding AI cartridges smoothly. Mauser 98's in particular will feed pretty notchy without modifications, Rem 700's usually feed pretty good.

My 6.5-06 would push the 140 Partition to 3075 with XX gr of H1000 _25" barrel. It was one of the more accurate sporting rifles I have owned, and the Barrel was only a 1-10" twist. Regards, Eagleye.
