I would like to go to something like this, however I dont have much for experience with sporting clays.

I have shot a thousand or two clays at the farm from hand thrower, manual crank and my electric thrower, have done a half dozen rounds of trap, and one round of sporting clays at Silver Willow (Carstairs).

I dont think I would have a high percentage of hits. Do the majority of people that come out to something like this take it very serious and get very high scores?

I just dont want to look like a fool that cant hit anything along side a bunch of guys that hardly miss.

It is a "FUN" shoot for Pheasants Forever. You have plenty of experience for a shoot like this. I bet you would have a blast and I have heard it is a great place to shoot.

That's how I started shooting clays, with a pump gun and asking lots of questions. After five or so years I still shoot a Winchester pump and have tons of friends. I have shot a few times with the best sporting clays shooters in Alberta, and they never made me feel outclassed (by shooting yes but by attitude no).

You can shoot with me.

I take it seriously, miss most of the hard ones and about half the easy ones.

LFGA has one of the best pieces of land for sporting clays there are. I have had a great time both times I have shot there. I encourage everyone that has shot a shotgun or would like to go and see a world class facility, a great committee and some pretty interesting targets.

Don't worry about your score, just break the ones you can and have fun trying to figure out how to have fun missing he ones you don't.

I missed it last year, but I think the year before My score was something around 12...

It's a blast. Challenging targets, great people and at the end of the day everyone goes home with the same amount of holes in their body as they arrived with. What else could you ask for?

Thanks for your comments guys. We made the shoot a non registered sporting shoot to keep cost down and to encourage average shooters. People can take it as seriously as they wish but it's all for fun..

Hope to see you there.

Great Shoot

Thanks to all who came out to support the shoot - and a great job Kurt in spearheading the effort.

NZ there were 49 shooters - as for who won I can't remember. It was a score of 164/200 and there was a nice distribution of skill levels.

I never heard a single complaint and everyone carried a smile all day

I think the plan of lowering the price and steering away from registered birds (my opinion) brought more shooters, and some new shooters.

A excellent lunch and fantastic 4 H group of trappers just capped off a great shoot.

One highlight was the pair of mini's thrown from the coulee top - they were a blast to shoot.

I think that is a good plan! I see that Blairmore and Mossleigh have unregistered fun shoots comming up.
